The Caucasian Shepherd, also known as the Caucasian Ovcharka, is a massive breed weighing up to 200 pounds. Its size alone can be intimidating to those unfamiliar with large dogs. However, with proper guidance, this dog can become a loyal companion. The average lifespan for a male is 10–12 years, and the breed originates from Russia and other European countries. Bred to guard and herd livestock, the Caucasian Shepherd is strong and confident. Their size makes them effective in these roles, but without proper training and socialization, they can become aggressive and dangerous.
